REP. JOAQUIN CASTRO UNDER THE DOME

Well, we've come to the point in the legislative session where many of the big bills are hitting the floor all at once. Today it's the toll road bill by Mike Krusee, Republican from Austin. Over the past several months, I have received over 10,000 e-mails from Central Texas residents opposed to this legislation. Perry's Trans-Texas Corridor plan fueled the flames of debate over concrete and toll roads.

Last night some of the biggest issues were heard in committees: abortion, gambling and polygamy among others. As the summer approaches, the Capitol seems to stay alive longer into the night. It's no surprise to find the parking garage nearly full at midnight. Nearly 900 witnesses signed up to speak in the state affairs committee considering a half-dozen abortion bills. Onward to sine die!

Good luck with all of them. I hope you can come back and blog about which issues most impact you (your consitituents) and why. Most of us don't get to visit the Capitol, so it'd be great to get a first hand account on here.
